This policy covers the Meme Picker website and the Meme Picker mobile app for iOS and Android.
1. Information We Collect
Meme Picker works without an account. You only give us personal information if you choose to sign in.
- Account information: if you sign in with Google or with Apple we receive your name, e-mail address and — from Google — your profile picture. We never see or store a password: your provider handles sign-in and only tells us who you are. If you use Sign in with Apple and choose “Hide My Email”, we only ever receive Apple’s private relay address.
- Your favorites: memes you save are stored against your account so they follow you to another device.
- On-device data: your language, sound and haptics preferences, whether you have seen onboarding, and a cache of recently viewed images stay on your device. We cannot read them.
- Diagnostics: when something fails we log the error, the endpoint involved, your app version and your platform (iOS or Android) so we can fix it.
- Advertising identifier: in the mobile app, only if you allow tracking when iOS asks. See the advertising section below.
We do not collect your location, your contacts, your photos, your microphone or your health data. Images you pick from your photo library to edit into a meme are processed on your device and are never uploaded unless you share them yourself.
2. How We Use Information
We use the information above only to:
- Keep you signed in and show your saved favorites
- Provide, maintain and improve Meme Picker
- Diagnose crashes and fix bugs
- Show advertising that keeps Meme Picker free
- Respond to you when you contact support
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it to build a profile of you outside Meme Picker.
3. Information Sharing
We share personal information only with the services that make Meme Picker work:
- Google and Apple: for sign-in. They tell us who you are; we do not tell them what you do in the app.
- Google AdMob: for advertising, and only within the limits of your tracking choice.
- Google Firebase: for remote configuration of app features.
- Error monitoring: technical error reports, used to fix faults.
We also disclose information where the law requires it, or where it is necessary to protect our users or the service. We never sell your data to anyone.
4. Advertising and Tracking
Meme Picker is free and is supported by ads. In the iOS app, before any tracking happens, we explain why and then iOS asks you to allow or deny it.
- If you deny: you still see ads, but they are not personalised and your advertising identifier is not used.
- If you allow: your advertising identifier may be used to make ads more relevant and to measure them.
You can change your mind at any time in iOS Settings ▸ Privacy & Security ▸ Tracking. Denying tracking never limits what you can do in the app. On the website, see our Cookie Policy.
5. Deleting Your Account and Data
You can delete your account from inside the mobile app, at any time, without contacting us:
Settings ▸ your profile ▸ Delete Account
This immediately and permanently removes your account, your profile details and your saved favorites from our servers. It cannot be undone. If you signed in with Apple, we also revoke Meme Picker’s access to your Apple ID, so the app stops appearing under Settings ▸ [your name] ▸ Sign in with Apple.
Prefer us to do it for you? See Delete your account, or e-mail [email protected].
6. Data Retention and Security
We keep your account data for as long as your account exists, and erase it when you delete the account. Diagnostic logs are kept for a short period and then discarded.
- All traffic between Meme Picker and our servers uses HTTPS.
- We review our collection, storage and processing practices to prevent unauthorised access.
- Access to stored data is restricted to the people who need it to run the service.
No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security — but we treat your data as if it were our own.
7. Children’s Privacy
Meme Picker is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Your Rights
Depending on the laws of your country, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct it
- Delete it — which you can do yourself, from the app
- Restrict or object to how we process it
- Receive a copy of it in a portable form
- Withdraw consent you have previously given
To exercise any of these, e-mail [email protected].
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will not reduce your rights under it without your explicit consent.
Changes are published on this page and, when significant, announced more prominently in the app.
